    CART/captioning students - program length 16 weeks.  All students meet once a week with Dessa for five classes of Dragon fundamentals.  In week five, the CART/caption students will switch to meeting with Chris Crosgrove on Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. eastern time.
    For week five only, CART/caption students will have two classes, Tuesday with Dessa and then Thursday with Chris.  

Class sizes are limited.
No prior experience is necessary to join our groups.

To ensure homogenous groups, all RVA Boot Camp applicants are required to take a compatibility exam prior to enrollment.
The non-refundable fee for the exam is $40.
To take the exam, fill out a registration form.  Once you submit the form, you will be taken to a payment page where you can pay for your test.

RVA Boot Camp Prerequisites

  • Above-average verbal reasoning
  • Above-average grammar, punctuation and spelling skills
  • Typing skills of at least 40 words per minute
  • Intermediate to advanced Windows skills
  • Above-average computer hardware and software skills

This is a computer and software-intensive course.
Students must be proficient in Windows 10.

Winter session - January 4, 2022.

PACKAGE ENROLLMENT CLOSES DECEMBER 20, 2021.
Exams  and payments must be in by December 22, 2021, to reserve your seat.

Summer session - July 6, 2022.

PACKAGE ENROLLMENT CLOSES JUNE 22, 2022.
Exams  and payments must be in by June 25, 2022, to reserve your seat.

PAYMENT OPTIONS

    • A 10% discount is offered when payment is made in full prior to session start date.
    • ZERO percent interest payments, a $1,000.00 deposit is due when sessions start followed by two monthly payments of $500.
    • Using the PayPal Credit program, subject to credit approval, payments may be financed up to six months at zero percent interest. Longer financing may be available with applicable interest rates.

CART/CAPTION SUPPLY LIST

    LAPTOP SPECIFICATIONS:  i7 10th (or newer) generation processor; 16-32 gigs of RAM; a 500 GB (or larger) solid state hard drive; Windows 10.  
    Your laptop must meet these specifications to be adequate for voice writing. Make sure you have at least TWO USB PORTS.  More ports are better but make sure you have at least two.  These are minimum specifications.  Upgrades worth considering would be an i9 processor, 32 gigs of RAM and a terabyte solid state hard drive.

    DRAGON PROFESSIONAL INDIVIDUAL 15 ONLY - NO ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS OR ADD-ONS ARE REQUIRED.
NOTE: It is recommended that you purchase the Dragon Installation and Training Flash Drive - 16 Gb USB 3 Flash drive containing any Dragon product full installation, Installation/Training Manuals for $35.

    ECLIPSEVOX STUDENT SOFTWARE: Student software cannot be purchased until Advantage Software has proof of enrollment.
Eclipse (Computer Aided Transcription/CAT) use begins five weeks into the session.  $349 will be paid to Advantage Software AFTER classes start.  
Eclipse student software is NOT required until later in the course.
This is STUDENT software.    Upgrading will be necessary upon employment.

All online students must have a microphone headset to join online classes.
